Year 3 - Burghley House Tudor Visit
On Tuesday, Year Three visited Burghley House in Stamford.
We discovered more about this wonderful example of a Tudor mansion, enjoying a private tour with our guide. It was very exciting to find out there were secret corridors and a portrait with a winking eye that followed us eerily/amazingly as we walked by!
Pupils also enjoyed different workshops to understand what life was like during this period. These included experiencing a Tudor banquet and also making a Tudor purse made from calico fabric.
Some quotes from pupils about their visit:
"My favourite part was seeing the kitchen because the tools were interesting and shiny" - Esa Hussein Damani
"I enjoyed seeing the house because we got to see all the rooms and paintings. There were many interesting facts that I learnt" - Laylah Khan
"It was astonishing that there was a toilet built into the steps to one of the beds" - Séamus Burke
Thanks go to Miss Burgess for accompanying us.
